For Whom the Bell Tolls.....6/15

The biggest thing that can bring down Essent is having (and being) a losing proposition. They hate the counter, and the more people that are aware of what their philosophy is, the harder time they have raising capital for expansion. Expand or die is the mantra. It's been two years since they acquired Greene (Southwest), and for them to be losing and sitting back is not good.

They say they're consolidating, what it really means is they're stagnating, if not in an actual decline. They had to sell the medical office building in Mass, and here, Hashmi is making some demands. He says he was promised a heart center at the north campus--with all the bells and whistles. Ain't going to happen. It's the same situation as the ER--two are not economical, and when they have a crashing patient at the south, where are they going to take them? Not to the north....

It was suggested that he buy the north campus, since he has more money than God. Don't know that he likes Paris that much. Don't know that Paris likes him that much...or that Hud would sell. But, he's been seen in quiet conversation with Knizley and a couple others which may pop a new one on Hud as well...

Knizely???

I thought he was run out of town on the hood ornament of a Rolls!

Anonymous said...

Nope, apparently his works have preceeded him, and he's stuck with us.

Where did Mikey land after he was sent packing from Paris?

It is very encouraging for someone to invest money in PRMC; like the rumor, that Hashmi (of unknown antecedents) wants to do so.
In today's climate, where terrorists and dictators abound and want to find safe havens for investment of their illegit gains through laundrymen - should make one think seriously about the source of his funds. Due diligence requires that questions about the source of funds be asked. Some of these are:
- What is the background of Dr. Hashmi? Where does he come from? Where did he get the funds for investment? What is his personal financial background, (get his bank history from 2000 to the present)? Does he have a moneyed background? What are his relationships? Does he represent others? If so, who are they? If it is someone else's money, is it clean? Will this investment become an embarrassment tomorrow?
- These questions are important because the U.S is signatory to International Convention on Money Laundering, Terrorism, and Anti-Corruption, which makes it incumbent to ensure that the funds for investment in the North Campus are clean and do not violate the law, that is if the Hashmi proposal ever comes to pass and God opens His purse!

The rumor is that the cath lab is moving to North--which makes no sense at all. But then, when did Essent ever make sense???

Anonymous said...

Knizley's wife must be having a fit. She distinctly did not like it here.

Maybe he's putting together a Hail Mary play that will save Essent and put himself back in Hud's good graces. Something like Dickie did.

So is the cath lab going to pack up and move to north? Will advanced heart pull out of paris or join in a chorus of cum-ba-ya with Hashmi?

Frank, your guess, please?

Haven't the foggiest, but have heard that all the equipment at north would have to be replaced, and not just transferred. Some say it's getting that way everywhere in the hospital, with bandaids and duct tape showing on a multitude of systems....frank

Anonymous said...

If they tried to move the equipment from the south to the north it would probably never work again or cost more to fix than to buy a new one. They have the newest piece of junk now broke down and having a hard time finding parts for it. I hear Advanced heartcare is looking into buy the old Salas minor emergency building. Doesnt look like they will be going anywhere buying a building like that.

When the MRI patients have to be transported to north for their scans, how much does it cost? Is that going to be what they do for the'chest pain center'?

Unbelieveable.

I think your comment is both racist and bigoted. Not every person who is Muslim, or from a Muslim country is a terroist. Timothy McVey wasn't a muslim, or Arab, and was just as evil as those who flew into the towers, pentagon, and in the ground in rural PA. Guess what, there are more crack pot white nuts in this country ready to plan attacks then there are Muslims.

Dr. Hashmi has always been nice to me personally, but like every doctor I've ever seen he can have a temper, and 90% of the time I'm sure he's justified in losing it.

I'm sure you will try to spin it like you weren't implying Dr. Hashmi was a terroist, but that is exactly what you did. So crawl back under your white hood and sheet and keep your bigoted mouth shut when you have a thought.

I don't know if the comments made were racist, or bigoted, or a taste of our current reality. That reality makes us jump through certain hoops.

Who would have thought that a 'charity' with the words 'holy land' would have been a terrorist financial funnel, or that a Dallas computer company would be supporting terrorist organizations? Is it any more surreal to contimplate what was suggested?

However, I imagine that there were more background checks run when the Pakistani president showed up than you could guess. And transfers of large amounts of money are routinely cross checked just for that reason, religion aside.

Hey what happened to the 64 slice CT. That was all we heard everyday for the past year here at Southwest Regional. Did that idea go out the door with Dave Kreye?

Anonymous said...

I don't think Dr. Hashmi is anything but a good man.

Ron White says "profiling is wrong."

fac_p said...

He probably is.

Profiling is how we get additional police in crime-ridden neighbor hoods. Profiling is merely calculating probabilities. An 80 year old church lady is going to be significantly less likely to be a suicide bomber than a young, muslim male.

Your insurance company profiles. Is that illegal? Bad example, maybe it ought to be.....frank

It certainly hasn't come in the door here. However, one of the hospitals in the area is getting a 128 slice unit from the email I received. Was unclear as to which one. Greenville Presby already has a 64, I'm told, and apparently eliminates a large amount of cath lab procedures.

Ok I was told that by November, ICU, ER, Cath Lab, Chest Pain center would all be on North. Snif, Dubuis/LTACH, and rehab will go to South. Pedi, which Christus spent a fortune renovating North's old ICU will now be bumped back up to 5th floor(where LTACH is now--more remodling!) and Day surgery (which Essent spent a small fortune on remodling North's old ER) will be put on 4th floor (rehab at the moment)
And how much did they spend remodling South's ER? and now it's going to be moved north? Does anyone think ahead here?

As for profiling Dr H., I'm all for it. Call me racist if you want. Yes, McVeigh and the Unabomber were homegrown terrorists but they are small potatoes compared to Al Queda & Osama. If Dr H is all clear, great. Maybe he can buy us from Hud. But if there's any terrorist money in there, take a hike!
I will never forget 9-11 if I live to be 150. I don't want it to ever happen again and if that means offending the many good Muslims out there to keep us safe from the few nutty Muslims, then yes, offend away!

11:29,
In re: the south side ER remodel- all they did was slap paint around in a broom closet- they still have the same cramped quarters, hardly enough to get a cat in, much less swing one.

Comment about Muslims- boy, you're a pip, you are. I have friends who happen to be from that part of the country, and they kept their profiles low after 9-11 for the obvious reason. I told them over & over again that I did not hold them personally responsible- shoot, that's like blaming every last person of Japanese ancestry for Pearl Harbor, or every person with German blood for Adolf Hitler. In other words, narrow-minded, bigoted, racist.

By the way, you just got called out by a middle-age white man who is a political conservative. Stick your KKK ideals where the sun doesn't shine (apparently, in that musty space between your ears). This blog site is for how to deal with the mental midgets from NashVegas and their asinine policies and poor hospital administrative skills, not mental midgets who get all their info from the Snooze and the network "news" shows.

Remind me to burn a Rebel flag or two in your honor.

Well Dux has edited Dick's post and now has a "let me know" e-mail signs all over. Wonder if he will respond to a message from Holly like Dick did??

Anonymous said...

Everyone needs to chill out on Hashmi. Give him a chance to help turn this place around. I am beginning to wonder if he is the only Dr that actually wants to help; instead of whinning and crying about everything. Come on docs give him some support.

Holly said...

Holly learned her lesson... I ain't offerin to help nobody...

More persicution for being concerned? No thanks, I can do without and I can drive to Sulpher Springs for care.

Essent has caused enough trouble for my family. And I won't spend a dime in their facility... North or South...

As for Dr. H, I hope he can make a difference, I am still hopeful things will get better.

I don't know Hashmi from Adam's off-ox, so I have no opinion on the man one way or the other. If indeed he could help improve things
then more power to him. Granted, I don't like dirty money either, but I'll bet if you dig deep enough, most of the $$$ in the hands of the local power brokers is tainted one way or another. If the other docs would be willing to throw in behind Hashmi, even better.

However, not to be the resident skeptic, but I need to see what we're buying, and I'm smelling sizle, so I expect steak. Otherwise, we're all fooling ourselves.

If you want to prove my skepicism misplaced, let's see some results. Who among the Paris medical community has the foresight of the late L.P.McCusition, and is willing to put community before self? Matter of fact, who amoong the locam moneymen also have that spirit? Or is the closest you come to stones the next calf fry festival?

11:29 here. I am not KKK or even a rebel flag waver. Nor am I a racist. Nor do I blame all Japanese people for Pearl Harbor. But I am suspicious of money trails and Al Queda. I personally hope Dr H is as clean as spring flowers if he can help this dying hospital. I have Muslim friends as well and we have discussed these issues a lot and they agree that in order to be safe everybody needs to be checked out. I am not presuming Dr H is tied in with Hamas or Al Queda or the Taliban. I just want to make sure he isn't.
Just because I disagree with you doesn't make me a mental midget.
BTW, I have a good idea of your identity and I know you're more prejudiced than me when it comes to some other races!

These attacks on Hashmi are uncalled for. His place of birth was one of the Arab Emirates. He was educated in Packistan , and is a Muslem by conviction.I surmise that since his father was the defense secretary of that country ; he is probably wealthy without resorting to drug money or terrorisim!
1.He is not going to buy the north campus.
2.He is a Physician who came here to try and( finally) build a decent heart program.
3.He has attracted Dr Salas who has shown himself to be a very competent cardiovascular surgeon.
I cannot understand why there are so many people who seem to want Essent to fail.Yes, they have been everything this Blog has revealed and more;but ,give yourselves a break and support what little steps in the right direwction are happening! Knizley was way over his head and we have lost two years (and a lot of goodwill),but the way out of this mess is to support anything that seems to be working;and stop all this wild speculation about your fellow collegues.Hasmi's C.V.is available to anyone who can use google or stop by the buisness office for a copy.

Oh; by the way , this is written by a Texas born, white protestant staff member(who is not on the board or on the hospital payroll) who belives in moving forward instead of looking at past wrongs and making up rumors.GET OVER IT !

8:29 a/k/a 11:29- I seriously doubt you know who I am. And if you don't like being called a mental midget, then stop making asinine remarks about offending Muslims and profiling local doctors. You've got me beat six ways from Sunday on racist remarks, if not stupid ones.

Meanwhile back at the ranch.....again I don't know Dr. Hashmi, so I won't make any statements about him. However, the previous poster has told us quite a bit about the man, and judging by what has been said, he should be a shot in the arm to the area- anybody's better than Dr. Lui could have been. Good luck to Dr. Hashmi on his work.

BTW, Essent IS failing, not WILL fail. Look at their red-colored bottom line......I can only hope they don't drag PRMC down the drain with them.

Whoa! Lets get some sense into this blog on H. Just a question. If as someone said that H's dad was Paekistan's defence secretary how come he has accumulated all this money for buying into the North Campus?
The Defence Secretary's pay is about $800 a month - surely not enough to create money bags..there must be other sources of money..yep have it checked out, I say.

i think it is a sad sate of affairs if this is the way you people talk about one of the best doctors in town (HAMAS AL KAIDA) his dads salary, his dads job why dont all of you geta life ,he is a hard working doctor ,who knowing him i can assure you has no intrest in investing in the hopsital becuse that wwould be a serious conflict of intrest and dont even think it would be leagl as it is against stark laws.
As far as i care he took outstanding care of my husabnd when my husabnd was having a herat attack we had no money to pay his fees and he even assissted us with providing samples of medicnes which we could not have afforded and has never once asked for paymnet on pending bills.
I think all of ou who talk about it in neagtives should get to know him first before you make judgemnets and accuse him of such vicious things as far as I a concerned he is a GENTLEMAN and he has shown no signs to us of not beinga patriotic american.
I personally know he has taken care of american generals not just pakistani dignitaries and i also want to say we live in a secular country and you people need to quit bringing his riligion into the picture

Anonymous said...

To all of you who publish negative coomets about him and seem to know him that well why dont you call and ask him.

Anonymous said...

I don't know Dr H at all. No clue. I just know I don't want to fund terrorists. He probably is clean and legit. I just want to make sure. While national publicity would be great to show the world what idiots the Essenters are, I rather it wasn't because the STate Dept found out we're laundering funds for the Taliban.

Anonymous said...

Right Essent has so much money that they cant fix the hospital but they are laundering money for some taliban's ,get a grip man.I think you are delusional. When you write on the blog atleast try to make some sense.

Anonymous said...

I was talking about Dr Hashmi not Essent.

Anonymous said...

So 8:33 AM you think DR. Hashmi is laundering money for the taliban..... You relly are delusional!!!! Or jealous??? Maybe both.

Anonymous said...

You better hope whoever you are that nobody finds who you are because now you are making a serious accusition against a person by name for some thing that you have no proof and guess what it becomes a legal issue of "SLANDER" and opens you to liability.

Ok, folks, enough is enough. Any large infusion of money is going to be scrutinized--no matter what source. As a matter of fact, a company that is losing money is far more likely to be tracked, since other agencies are concerned about profitable ones.

Hate to close down this post, haven't ever done that, but it's getting too far out there....frank
