Pakistan Repercussions?....12/17

With all the turmoil in Pakistan, the question becomes: How will this affect local healthcare if the political climate changes for the worse? We have several Pakistani physicians in our community, prime example is Doctor Hashmi.

The New England Journal of Medicine indicates: "Pakistan has contributed approximately 10,000 international medical graduates (IMGs) to the United States...." Only 300 have returned to the medically underserved country. Should there be changes in the relationship between the US and Pakistan, how will that affect those physicians currently in the country on resident alien or dual citizenship status? With those with a large portion of their wealth, or the majority of their family in Pakistan.

The new heart hospital, comes to mind. Speculation is all anyone can do without the facts, but that's probably what Essent is having to do as well. Assurances can only be based on the current situation, rather than a future one.

I would imagine that there will be no great changes, but one can never tell....

I guess that really does give them an 'out', rather than saying they can't afford it.

They can say the equipment is all picked out...but that's just paper. Money and Mouth....frank

I heard a nasty rumor: That of the billion or so aid that Pakistan gets for the fight against terrorists, a goodly sum is being laundered through contacts of the good general. (Can you say Hashmi?)

Jealousy, or fact? Awful lot of money being spent on land purchases in Lamar county!

Oh really 4:37
You heard a rumor and just decided Dr. Hashmi must be a crimial huh. You got it right in your post. JEALOUSY!!!! Why don't you either quit being jealous OR back up your "rumors" with FACTS. Oh I guess you dont have any facts do you. Go figure. MORON!!!

Why would they need to launder the aid they get to fight terrorist?

Because they weren't being used to fight terrorism.

We support people that wouldn't be our choice...in a perfect world. It isn't one, last I looked. The good Pakistani general is well placed, which is his selling point.

We had the same problem in several areas. And the CIA has supported them...until they became unpopular. Col North demostrated that.

Pakistan is now in that catagory. What transpires is in God's/Allah's/Buddha's hands..frank

Rumors will abound in times like ours. Uncertainty is manifest. Don't jump on people because they repeat rumors. If you have facts that make the rumors false, then let's hear them Don't just lambast the rumormongers. That's what Essent does.

I heard that "Play Nice Children" is an adulterer and has an IQ of 20. Just a rumor -- but don't anybody say anything bad about me for repeating it unless you can prove he/she is not an adulterer and can show me the results of his/her Wechsler test.

Response to 1:57 p.m. post:

What the heck does my silly post have to do with this thread?
#1- it is a direct response to the 10:15 a.m. post; therefore, it continues the thread.
#2- "Rumors will abound in times like ours. Uncertainty is manifest. Don't jump on people because they repeat rumors. If you have facts that make the rumors false, then let's hear them Don't just lambast the rumormongers. That's what Essent does." -- According to this philosophy, you cannot reprimand me for jumping in with what I've heard, even if what I've heard is pure conjecture. You must provide evidence that what I have reported is not true, or keep your mouth shut. If you do not agree with this, then you are just like Essent.
#3- You reprimanded me. You did not provide any evidence to contradict the rumor I reported. Ergo, you are just like Essent!

If that much money is being run through Lamar County, you'd think more interest would be flagged.

7:03 AM,

Now you're being ridiculous, Matt....wassa matter, stocks take a big dump on you again?

Response to 4:40 p.m.

I am neither Dux, Matt, nor anyone else who has a particular interest in Essent aside from the possibility that I might have to be a patient there at some time. I have never had a hand in ruining/running a hospital, nor have I ever owned any stock in a company in the medical field. I just have this compulsion to point out absurdity when I see it, and the post about not lambasting rumormongers was absurd! I think I proved that point, because I obviously struck a nerve with you.

Since I have accomplished my purpose, and you either can't or won't respond with logical argument and/or facts, I choose to end my portion of this thread and will not post again.

Well the rumors are interesting, not true, but interesting. You didn't strike a nerve tho. I found it funny.

7:27,

You struck no nerve with me, but I did show you to be the idiot you are. If you want absurdity, go look in the mirror.

Now go away, we grownups are talking now........
