Third Time's the Charm....2/9

I really wish I'd placed a counter on the blog the first year I started; I really have no idea on historicals, and the only comparison is last year's counts. I started it in Feb, because January was a high month and I kind of wanted confirmation that I was on the right track.

I got it.

114,444 was the count at midnight the 31st of January. What does that say? Remember The Customer? If people get good service, they possibly will tell their friends...if they received bad service, they will tell...and tell...and tell....

We have been served badly, and a lot of people are saying so....

So many, that customers are leaving....

So many, that staff are leaving....

So many, that two other communities said no way to the Essent way....

This is kind of a "third time's the charm"...Hud has to prove that he's still viable as an acquisition corporation. If he's not, then he's either too cautious, or Essent's business model is no longer consistent with an investment strategy....

I don't agree with the way Essent has done business. I stayed with them for one year, gave it a chance, and then decided this was something I didn't want to be a part of.

But this just isn't a company that you leave and find another job. This is our community hospital, and a possible lifeline for our family and friends.

I was patronizing a long standing local business last week and talking with the owner who mentioned she was going to have surgery this week. I asked if she was going to have it done at PRMC, and her reply was ".. not on my life." I think that spoke volumes. She went on to say how her husband came in through the ER back in the fall after blacking out and cut his head open and the horrible service they received there. He was admited for 3 days and how the nurses were so over worked they didn't have time to even help him to the bathroom. How he missed two meals because no one brought him a tray. She spoke of how the building and equipment looked "as run down as the staff."

She went to Mother Francis in Tyler for her surgery, away from family and friends because she feared for her life. I think that speaks volumes. Just as a note this is a very prominate and wealthy family in Paris. Everyone knows their names, and their business. (I won't mention it here for privacy's sake.) I feel for the poor people who can't afford the option of going to a better facility.

As a nursing student in the AD program at PJC we get to see first hand how bad it is. I feel for the staff that has to endure working there. There are some top quality employees who can't do their jobs to the level required for quality patient outcomes because PRMC values the dollar above all. God bless you folks for sticking it out; I know I couldn't.

Now Hud's in a pickle: If he doesn't get this hospital, it shows an inability to compete. If he discovers problems and elects not to pursue it, it looks the same as losing.

But, if this dog has fleas, and he gets the bid,it could impact the entire health of the organization.

Sometimes you just can't win.

I could have written the same blog. I had actually thought about it, but had opted not to for fear of identifying myself on the blog.

These people are good people, who know alot of people. They do not want to go out of town for health care.

I recall reading somewhere that Hud was an employee of HCA before he started Arcon. I wonder what his record was at HCA........do we have any cyber-detectives in the house?

Another disturbing thought- I fear Hud and his buds are ruining their properties to the point of bankruptcy in order to write the whole thing off & reap the windfall. Otherwise why would anyone with a lick of sense act the way he does?

And the good folks of Paris and Lamar County keep getting screwed...

Frank,
Think we ought to nominate Hud?

Seeking CEO IT Achievement Award nominees
Modern Healthcare is seeking nominations for its fifth annual CEO IT Achievement Award competition. The award, co-sponsored by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, honors one or more healthcare industry chief executive officers who demonstrate leadership and commitment to using information technology to advance their healthcare organizations’ strategic goals.

If it includes covert monitoring of employees, Hud will win hands down....frank
