E$$ential Education...8/10

"School bells ring--are you listening?
Dodged the blame--who you kidding...
She's not out of sight, Bev's happy tonight.
Walking in an E$$ent wonderland."

Hey Frank,
You wouldn't believe who got the job as Clinical Director of the X-Ray program at PJC, none other than Frau Blücher!

So what if the Program Director took three times to pass the registry for CT, the Clinical Director has a BS in public relations (not radiology)--and was fired from the principal clinical site.... Of course they'll provide an exceptional educational environment! Don't you just love it!!

Quality in Education....

Well, the proof is in the testing. Looks like there's a lot riding on the national accreditation test for this first class. Since Mock was teaching there prior, it would seem that no one can claim to be uninvolved. Actually, I wonder how it will play, her being on-site at her old digs.... frank

Amazing don't ya think, that one of the people that interviewed for Frau Blucher's position had a B.S. in Physics, with proven clinical experience in Radiology. Guess PJC is as content to rest on its laurels without improvement as the city of Paris itself.

Guess the decision making personnel at PJC bought into the, "Don't worry about it Hon, I have it under control." refrain from Frau Blucher.

And considering that most of the students (with the probable exception of Bev's daughter) have complained about the poor teaching Bevvy did...guess no one in the dean's office was listening to them. Wonder if she'll bother to show up for classes now?
The sad thing is they had already decided on Bev. They didn't even bother to check the other candidate's references. Wonder who Bev is sleeping with for that to happen? (Shudders at the very thought!)

GO LOOK, ARRT.COM, THERE IS NO CT REGISTRY FOR BEVERLY MOCK, UNLESS SHE IS USING ANOTHER NAME. SHE IS ONLY REGISTERED IN RADIOGRAPHY.

If you notice, it did say "clinical director". That's a different position than the director of the entire program.

What I see humor in, is her having to depend on the largess of the hospital as their primary clinical site. And since Karen was angling for the directorship, wonder how they'll be getting along??

Stay tuned....

Okay, a quick update from a soon to be RT from PJC. Slick Willie is gone, Karen is the program director, not Bev, she's the new clinical director, and for the last 6 months or more, things at school have been alot more structured. I know how rumors get going and I know how Bev's a hot topic on the blog, but lets give the students a break. Sure, some of the students from this program will be good and some might not make it , but you'll have that anywhere. We got off to a rough start, as would any first year program, but it has smoothed out now, and getting better all the time. Here are a few of my suggestions:
1. Don't bash the students by cutting down the education we're getting, It takes a hell of alot of effort to juggle everything, and we don't need anymore BS to deal with.
2. Why not wait for December, when we graduate, to get the proof of the education, when we find out how many pass the Registry. I can't freakin' wait for that little tid-bit of info!
3. Get the facts straight before you put it on the blog. All that would take is a phone call to PJC in this case, hell use *67 so they wont know who you are.
P.S. The blog is a good read 99.99% of the time.

I (or at least the person that emailed) stand corrected. I really can't remember when I received the email, but apparently the three-times-to-pass-the CT was hot--had three emails to that effect. Hopefully it doesn't rub off...and I will correct it....frank

OK Frank, enuf about Rad. How do u say good morning in Pakistanian??? My whole f*&$ing day was SHOT (no pun intended) because of the Check Up for the Prez.........SOOOO another feather in E$$ent's hat or ass???? Hope some of the $$$$ for the coup of treating the Prez will trickle down to the grunts that perform the day to day crap that keep the doors swinging. I haven't seen so many admin on a weekend since.....well never. In truth, actually the sad truth, they have no clue. But the admin did have their kids front and center to meet the Prez.....Guess it's good to be the king.....

Maybe they should have asked where Ossama is, while they had the chance....frank

Did I miss something? What Prez?

fac_p said...

The President of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf. Apparently two assassination attempts have a tendency to make one leery of trusting healthcare in one's own country.

Well I will bash the students. Lately their attitudes have gotten outrageous. And it's not cases of "senioritis" --the junior students have it too. They are rude, cocky, don't hesitate to refuse to follow tech orders and lately we've gotten a few that are deliberately trying to stir up trouble between techs! Must be the wonderful influence of their new clinical coordinator.

So Mr Paki-Prez is leery of healthcare in his country? And he comes HERE??? What...does Essent own ALL the hospitals in Pakistan? Those poor folks..

It's all about PR for ESSENT. Who cares about the local Parisians or anyone else who still relies on local healthcare. Lets shut down the hospital for the President of Pakistan and the hell with the locals. They can have their health problems around the important peoples schedule. You go ESSENT!!

Anonymous said...

Again...........a well worn out DOG AND PONY SHOW! Healthcare is a thing of the past when it comes to Essent, just look at the newest post from an East Coast Essent indentured servant. North/South issues aside, THIS sorry excuse for a company is like a neoplasm and not "in-Situ" for sure!

In reference to the PR ploy by the hospital check out this link. http://www.thenews.com.pk/arc_default.asp. Scroll about half way down the page you will see "The hearty trip to Texan Paris". Some questions might be answered here.

If Muskogee chooses Essent, wonder what foreign dignitary will titilate the new Admin crew there?

fac_p said...

Sorry, but the link that was provided was updated (new day in Pakistan.) What it more than likely said was that the President of Pakistan was treated to American medical care in Paris TX.

Considering that the cardiologist is a friend/relative, and the pres has had multiple attempts on his life...it makes sense. Just ties up the parking and part of the hospital. All we got to do was make him glow in the dark...something apparently our government told him might happen to his country if he wasn't part of the solution.... See, all good...Essent helping to implement foreign policy....frank

Well if Essent is our PR to Pakistan it's no wonder they all hate us

Coming from a person that works with PJC students on a day to day basis, I have to defend the accusations against the current and past students. They are all a positive asset to the workflow and no problems between techs have been created due to any of their doings to my knowledge. Maybe the commenter should consider the source before they post things they believe to be true...

Only saw the one "senioritis" comment, and since they haven't graduated a class yet, seems like there aren't any "past" students.

Yours is only one location, how many clinical locations do they have? Maybe it's from another--speaking of which, wonder how Mock does with Paris Open Imaging. But, giving credit where credit is due, she did help create the situation that forced the move. Maybe it will be with "open" arms ...frank

Not a case of what I believe to be true or not. I work with the students too. I can tell you now that there are only about 3 of them (from both classes) I would want to work with as techs.
Granted, it's not entirely the students's fault that they have been given a sorry education. As for their clinical experience, their clinical coordinator should be on their cases to make sure they benefit from the clinical site. Either way, I can say PJC's Rad Tech program is producing a lot of sorry-@#$ techs.

I have yet to determine who's or which site PJC has tried to mold their Rad-Tech program after.
It reminds me of an Oklahoma school, a one year certificate program. Thus, missing the importance of physics, anatomy, compassion, and most respect for your peers.
The seasoned techs at any facility will be the best teachers money can buy, if the school system balks at constructive criticism, and the students cry at reprimands from techs then the program is in trouble. The grad techs are not babies, lets not treat them like one's. Hold them accountable for their actions. Those who don't like or think they are above guidance need to find another career.

we are give 2 ears/ 1 mouth, learn to let the ears work first.

Ohhh you better not pout!
You better not cry!
I'm a-telling you why:

The first class graduates next month! Seasoned tech beware! You will be fired and replaced with some poor little former student.

Watch your back y'all. Any excuse will do to fire you if you make more than beginner's base pay.

Anonymous said...

Here's the proof of the pudding: when told that he/she hadn't centered correctly for an AP Shoulder film the student replied: Well [School Director] said I just had to get light all around the area of interest.
Wow....don't think it's worded quite like that on the registry!
And Essent is gonna fire all the seasoned techs for this???

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah, when standing in to take the boards, wonder how many hoots, guffaws, etc, etc will burst forth! What happened to "REVIEW" for the exams, or do the powers that be in the Rad Tech program at PJC believe that they know soooooo much, their students don't need reveiw. Yep, have talked to many "new" kids that are interested in entering a Radiology Technician program..........guess what folks, those that want to be the best aren't hitting the enrollment offices at PJC, they're heading for Tyler, Dallas, Houston, etc, etc. Seems to me that SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, be it at PRMC or PJC needs a major wake up call! And they wonder why Salas and RRR is doing a bang up business?!?!?! DER, don't take a PJC grad to figure that one out-HA!

Anonymous said...

Well PJC isn't accredited yet. And won't be unless the first class passes the registry en masse. I have grave doubts to that happening.
Wonder how those lil graduates feel--Bev promised some of them jobs at PRMC, but Bev isn't in a position to fulfill that promise. And there are no job openings at the moment.

Let me tell you something about the students at PJC. The 1st class had an 88% pass rate on the boards so what do you have to say about that??
You people need to get a life!

Anonymous said...

The PJC ARRT pass rate is now 100%. Put that in your pipe and smoke on it!
