A New Comment 3/4

This was a direct email, like I said, only one opinion is boring.

After a "team meeting" at PRMC I am now convinced that we are living in a police state. We have been instructed that employees may not speak negatively--to each other or anyone else--about Essent, PRMC, their department or their supervisors without being summarily fired.

We have been told that there are informants everywhere who will notify the higher ups if anyone dares say something the least bit negative. So now what little teamwork existed is gone since every employee must view his/her coworker as a potential snitch.

After a long harangue about possibly being fired for unauthorized overtime, we were told that THEY would rather we quit and let them bring in temps rather than keep such worthless employees. (Nevermind that temps cost far more than overtime does!)
But we are to keep a positive, happy attitude at work! I'm waiting for them to put the words "Arbeit Macht Frei" over the ER entrance. Do you smell something burning?

How appropriate! "Arbeit Macht Frei" (Work will make you free) the slogan emblazoned over the gates of Auschwitz. Since we are surrounded by secret police, propaganda slingers and a power-mad dictator/director I'm looking for a spider hole to hide out in.

And Dachau. North and South campuses, anyone?

Wonder why they would be having "snoops" among the masses? Could it be they are paronid about their own actions? If, in fact, "they" were the company "they" claim to be, why would there even be a need for tattle-tales? Is this an "official" position?! Haven't seen it posted!

A good leader tries to inspire and encourage his/her people. Certainly if they have made mistakes they must be corrected. But always with the goal of forming a strong team with a unified desire for quality work ouput. Ranting and raving like a lunatic and berating to the point of browbeating is not the way to lead. Being told everything you do is crap and "I'd rather get a temp than keep you here" is a great way to encourage an underling. Oh, it's inspiring all right. Inspiring the employees to leave PRMC ASAP. Already we are seeing the kapo mentality forming with certain employees sucking up the dictator by tattling on their coworkers. I read some Holocaust survivor memoirs; they said they hated the kapos more than the Nazis. Why? Because the kapos were Jews who betrayed and abused their own people for warmer clothes and extra food rations. (http://www.holocaustsurvivors.org/cgi-bin/data.show.pl?di=record&da=encyclopedia&sf=entry_name&sv=Capo)
And the dictator has had a taste of blood. I suspect she will kill again.

When you watch nurses kill pt's in the ER this would be apporiate. You rip away people's care you get what is coming to you.

From CareerBuilders.com comes this advice for a sure sign that you need to leave your job ASAP:
#6. You notice that every day for the last five days, at least one person has run crying from your boss's office. While not everyone's boss is a bundle of joy, you should expect to be treated with respect in the workplace. If you see signs that the executives running your company make all of the other employees shake with fear, burst into tears or work on edge all the time, look for a greener pasture. There are companies out there that find success without putting employees through the ringer.

Who is this guy? The "Arbeit Macht Frei" was mentioned in one of the network news programs this week! This is the first I ever heard the phrase outside of one of the memorials.

Obviously you are not up on your Holocaust history. Arbeit Macht Frei on the gates of Auschwitz was a cruel joke. Newly arrived prisoners--who had been told they were being taken to a work camp--saw the words over the gate and had hope...only to be sorted and hustled into the gas chambers.
As to why employees of PRMC feel like Holocaust victums...well I know I feel the cruel lies of the bosses and the fatal stab wounds in my back. If I were and management and saw that my employees felt this hopeless and unhappy I'd be making some major changes. Looks to me like no one really cares about the employees.

nURSES ARE LEAVING prmc IN DROVES BUT LETS NOT FORGET ABOUT THE LOYAL COMPETENT GOOD NURSE WHO DECIDE TO STAY BECAUSE THEY FEEL A SENSE OF COMMITMENT,DUTY TO THE HOSPITAL AND THE CITY OF pARIS. mOST OF THESE NURSES HAVE CHILDREN AND HOMES IN lAMAR COUNTY AND DONT WANT TO COMMUTE SOMEWHERE ELSE. jUST BECAUSE prmc IS A BAD HOSPITAL THERE ARE SOME REALLY GOOD NURSE THAT WORK THERE.

I agree that we do have some excellent nurses and techs. They deserve to be treated with respect but they aren't by our fearless leaders. As they continue to be used and abused, eventually they will leave to find greener pastures. Can anyone blame them?

Yes, very good nurses are leaving PRMC and even student nurses are getting caught up is the middle of this issue. Student nurses don't even want to work at PRMC because of their lack of leadership. When it comes down to front line people leaving, the management team of PRMC needs to look at the reason why.

Let's take a look at our leaders over the various departments.

Over the past few years, many people have complained about JR and his incompetent management style and even when he was fired, he was allowed to stay until he found further employment. Why? If you fire someone get rid of him and get someone in there that can do the job. He needed to go about 5 years ago.

Carole Grant was demoted when PRMC came on board? What is her function? Does she even know how to take a blood pressure anymore? Then Connie Murchison took over as CNO. She is really nice but does she have the balls to stand up for her departments? Yes, the nursing departments are short handed and the patient complaints are up, what is being done about this? Pointing the finger at the people who are complaining and saying "if your not happy leave" is not a solution. We Need Leadership!!!!!!!!!

The excessive wait time and patient complaints associated with the emergency department continues to be a major thorn in their side. Many nurses and patients have complained about the ER. Robin Clinkenbeard, Director, can not be found. Customer service is not a part of her vocabulary. It's no secret that she is F---ing a fellow employee while her department gets no support from her. Why is this type of behavior allowed? Could this be the reason why a good ER nurse quit? Some nurses have changed shifts just to get away from the director. Let's wake up and smell the coffee. Robin, do you know how to do CPR, take a blood pressure? Let's get a director who will work the front lines and who is visible. Not a director who closes her office door when her new co-worker lover comes in.

Good Ole Pauline Franklin is part of the old McCuistion school of thought and she just does her job and goes home. She runs a tight ship. She will go to bat for her employees.

Larry Reaves is probably the most knowledgible director PRMC has. He knows the financial side of his department and he keeps the department flowing well. I would like to know if his front line people are happy? If they are, what is he doing right that no one else is doing.

Tom Brunette, Administrator or director? Which is it. Was he promoted and then demoted? What's up with that? His departments were left hanging while he was trying to be an administrator and while he was working in the ER on a personal issue. He has been know to be rude, condescending and of course is part of the good ole boy network. He needs to be taken down farther. Leading by intimidation should not be allowed.

Derald Bulls just wags whatever flag he needs too. He is truely a suck up.

This just sums up a few of the problems within the PRMC directors. Sorry I didn't have time to talk about all of them. But it is my opinion, clean up your own mess within your reach, get a strong leadership for the hospital and them maybe people won't be leaving in droves. The front line people want and need support from their leaders not dictatorship. A good leader is involved with their department, knows what is going on and is involved with the frontline people. Does PRMC have this leadership????????????

I haven't forgot about the good nurses that are still at PRMC. Your either SAINTS or under the abused wives umbrella. No matter, my hats off to you. Hang in there, and do the best you can. Hold on to your licence. I'm praying for you.

Ok guys, think about this. Your talking bad about the leaders of departments, who to keep their jobs, are doing what the money mongers are wanting them to do.

Just like in order to keep your job, you have to keep your mouth shut, so do they. If they speak up, they are gone---look at the history here.

If the CNO has no balls-she lives to work another day, which is better than I can say for myself. I'm unemployed balls poster-child.

Got to find a way to bring up instead of tear down. You've got to find a voice by coming together.

Why does upper management want everyone to be quiet about staffing and saftey issues?

If they don't know there is a problem, they can't fix the problem, and when a problem comes up they can say "nobody brought this to my attention."

Anonymous said...

If they really wanted to fix the problems, they would be asking what the problems are.

I really don't think that's their concern. Their concern is apple polishing--no matter how many worms are inside. As long as it looks good, most people won't question them.

All the players in the company have "been in healthcare". As what? An administrator? A takeover specialist? Yeah, right. They know about healthcare like Teresa Heinz knew about ketsup: It makes money.

They only take care of the problems that are about to come up and bit##-slap them.

Attitude reflects leadership. If the employees of PRMC have bad attitudes it is because of our leadership.
When you have a department head say "I'd rather you all quit and let me get a bunch of temps!" Well it sure makes me want to work harder. When your boss says "I don't need any of you. I can get temps here in a few hours!" Man. Can you feel the love? When you try to communicate a problem or an idea and you hear "I don't want to hear it!" Yeah. I'm filled with respect for my bosses. NOT!
I don't want to "tear down" the leadership of PRMC. I'd like to see a vast improvement. And yeah, I know that s*** rolls down hill, but that can be softened. If my boss says "Hey,they're chewing my ass about this so we need to work on it.." Then I'm glad to do what I can to lighten the load. But getting screamed at for no reason (in the middle of the hallway) is not going to inspire me to do anything other than start posting my resume.
Since the Bosses all treat us like dogs, I'd like to point out that when you use pain and negative reinforcement to train a dog...that dog's gonna bite the hand that beats it. Positive reinforcement and rewards will make dogs--and employees--bust a gut for you. Maybe we need to get Andrew & Co Dog Training for Dummies?

Well some of the bosses that did go to bat for others, are gone now, that's for sure. sh** was rolling down hill hitting them, and others were throwing sh**balls at them. They were taking heat from administration, and they would speak out, (loudly), then they would loose the battle, and instead of the others backing them, and working together to fix the situation, they would throw the sh**balls at them.

Administration would smile, because it appeared they were fighting everybody, and they would finally leave the war.

That's right. When your beating down people that could help you, your screwing yourself. You have to look at your own advice.

They treat you like dung, and you treat them like dung. Who's gonna stop it. Will it stop if your nice to them. It didn't work for me, but there is strength in numbers.

You can get something done if you stick to the issues instead of beating up the directors, you will come closer to getting something done instead of people discrediting you, because of negativity.

P.S. I know it feels good to take shots though. There is one mentioned earlier, I would love to tell all. But it doesn't help.

The ones who have taken the job for more money and some sick sense of power, need to hang it up. But they won't. They will just continue to suck on the dung of administration, so they can tell others what to do and where to go.

I don't like being negative, but the problem IS the directors. It wasn't the guard at the gate of Auschwitz...it was Hitler & Co that were the real problem. I say again: attitude reflect leadership!
