Econ 101....3/2

This was too good to pass up, so I left it as a comment, and used it in a post:

So far, this looks very promising. Those of us who are involved in this agree with the triad of Patient-Nurse-Physician comfort and confidence. I feel that the employees are THE biggest asset a company has (maybe it's only asset, since it's the only one that a company can control, as to mix and content). However, THE engine that drives the boat is the PATIENT. We must re-establish confidence in the system.

The LIST is so far a good one and will go a long way toward providing a foundation for guidance. Thank you, Paris.

Darn, he said what I wanted to. I could say 'ditto', but that's been used.

Obviously, in a free market society, the customer is king, within limitations. The hospital has two, if we simplify: Patients and providers. We have found out what happens when either or both are dissatisfied.

Essent bought into Paris because of a miss-interpretation of the market: Since we only have 'one' hospital, they thought they had a monopoly. They didn't read the hospital wrong as far as needs, they just didn't care. They figured that it was a closed market. That explains a lot. What they did read wrong was the patients.

Now I can get my head around the comment from so long ago: "We hope to make this 'the' hospital in the region...." W. Hudson Connery, CEO/President of Essent Healthcare.

I would say that this has been a learning experience on both sides....frank

You can change the last part of Hud's comment to "THE hospital in the region to avoid". Apparently quite a few are.

Heard that "suits" were at the hospital this week and the rumor is that the funding for the chest hospital has been approved.....

They are no longer just looking at the heart hospital but moving the whole shabang to the north campus. They finally realize the logistics and the PR of the community is a new fresh start.

what makes you think that Essent is going to move to the north any time soon? They may be saying that but, listen a little closer; what they are really saying is that they've hired someone to study the project.
Reminds me of the first mates' comment to the captain of the Titanic after she had started sinking "sir,we seem to have encountered some problem with ice and are taking measures to investigate the situation".

It does't matter where you move the hospital North or South .The same inexperienced nurses is there and the same administration running it so how can it be any better. A company can't run any better than the people running it.The same ER Docs, the same ER nurses that didn't reconize the chest pain patient. Who want's to go North and get the same treatment you got South from nurses that can't reconize a nitro pill.

That isnt all the the nurses can't reconize. Patients are just bodies, that don't count. I spent a day on the 4th floor with a bunch of inept, arrogrant, nurses who treated me like I was just nothing. Don't want to go into it all here but I hope that they loose or never get their licenses.

I have a question for you. How many have read the "Information on Patient's rights and responsibilities"? Put out by PRMC for new patients. It would be nice if it were followed by all staff including the Administration. So many problems would be solved with the hospital if these rules were followed. Patients would feel alot different about the hospital. They would be willing to use the place. The lack of attention to these procedures is costing the hospital patients. it also makes the employees not want to do their job. The few good ones that are there are over stressed because of the rotten apples who work there. A good house cleaning would help a bunch. Just one patients observations.
