The annual Gala--A chance to be "seen" in one's finery with Hud and his bud.... Just what I want to do. On the surface, it looks great...charitable donation, mixing with the 'society' of Paris...who either don't have a clue, or don't care...because they're going to Baylor.
"But", you say, "it's going to a good cause...." Yep, one of them is: Nursing scholarships.
Paris healthcare? Maybe, but isn't that their code words for PRMC? Remember, they don't do anything for free. Make it a donation to the Agape Clinic, and maybe I would be less cynical...nah!
Grants are available for diabetes research, but, they are done on two criterias: who you know, or what you produce.
The Annual Golf tournament sort of fizzled: Who wants to buddy up to the E$$ent boys? Apparently not enough for a foursome. No, I can't say that, the board would make a foursome, and they're in bed with E$$ent, so I guess it would just be a case of rolling over one more time.
Speaking of the board, Gene is the one that's pushing the Gala. After all the history, it would seem like he's still right at the forefront.
If you really want to help a student nurse, there are probably scholarships that could use funding. If not, start one. Call it the "Paris for Excellence in Healthcare". Slap conditions on it that they'll have to pull a 3.0 minimum, and that they can prove financial need...I'll contribute. Heck, I'd put a link for a PayPal contribution.
Just say NO! to Hud and his bud.

Let me get this straight.
A donation to the St. Joe's Foundation for the annual gala now goes to:
a) Improvement in Healthcare for Paris (aka E$$ent)
b) The Dr. Steve Grave's private fund for research into diabetes and blindness (aka paying him for patients without insurance)
c) PJC Nursing scholarship
And the entire event is in part being organized by our illustrious ex-football coach, and paid member of the PRMC board Gene. Do I smell yet another rat?????
I think Paris business leaders should boycott the Gala and donated directly to the scholarship program at PJC or establish their own.
The cheesy getup at the Gala was never worth the money anyway, and I would rather see all the donations go to educational scholarships, rather than average BBQ, cheap wine, and the likes of E$$ent HUDdling in a corner! That’s enough to ruin anyone’s appetite!
I've got a couple of ideas for an Essent fund raiser.
A long drive contest with Hud and Bud's faces on the balls. It would be fun, and you could take out some aggression as well.
Another idea could be like a dunking booth with administration in the booth. Or better a long drive contest with administration and or board members standing at the 100, 200 and 300 marks. I'll bet I could even drive 400 yards if the right person was standing there.
I know I'd pay big bucks to take a shot at that. I might even take out a loan. And the bonus could be that they would have to go through the triage line at the hospital, and sit and wait with general population.
Not to say I'd want anyone to get hurt or anything, but sometimes---no pain- no gain.
Another stipulation should be that the scholarship recepient should not work at PRMC and poison the good education that the scholarship is paying for.....
I live in Dallas and no one even knows who Gene is. Gene who???:) I agree, the gala is very cheesy
Better yet............HAVE a Gala (or whatever name you prefer) without Essent and buds in the mix, and all donations go to a boutique hospital.
Yes, it's Gene "do you know who I am" Stallings.
...and so? This is a dialog, not an 'I love me' wall. And I believe it has been said that yesterday's sunshine doesn't warm your butt today...
Lets do a fund raiser to get the boutique hospital going. Who's good at fund raisers?
To 8:35
Probably Paul Swasko, and a lot of folks from the churches, King's Daughters, and various other service organizatons. Even Gene "do you know who I am" Stallings, but I think he might think it was a conflict...hah!
I wonder how Gene's sweet innocent son (the one he prays w/ in front of church) feels when daddy "acts out"?
Just read this on the Citizens for Paris blog...Just substitute "hospital" for
"city"...ha!
(Tho maybe this might give E$$ent policy ideas)

Legal disclaimer: I lifted this off of another blog where management hates its employees. But I understand these policy changes will go into effect shortly with the City.
City Policy Changes
The following policy changes will go into effect immediately.
Dress Code:
It is advised that you come to work dressed according to your salary.
If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a Gucci bag, we assume you are doing well financially and therefore do not need a raise.
If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your money better so that you may buy nicer clothes, and therefore you do not need a raise.
If you dress just right, you are right where you need to be and therefore you do not need raise.
Sick Days:
We will no longer accept a doctor's statement as proof of sickness. If you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work.
Personal Days:
Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year.
They are called Saturday & Sunday.
Toilet Use:
Entirely too much time is being spent in the toilet. There is now a strict three-minute time limit in the stalls. At the end of three minutes, an alarm will sound, the toilet paper roll will retract, the stall door will open, and a picture will be taken.
After your second offense, your picture will be posted on the company bulletin board under the "Chronic Offenders category."
Anyone caught smiling in the picture will be sanctioned under the company's mental health policy.
We are here to provide a positive employment experience.
Therefore, all questions, comments, concerns, complaints, frustrations, irritations, aggravations, insinuations, allegations, accusations, contemplations, consternation or input should be directed elsewhere.
Thank you for your loyalty to our fair city."

Cheap shot about the kid.
But, everyone thinks they themselves are 'moral', it's just how their society judges it...and morality changes based on the here and now.
Leave it to Beaver vs NYPD Blue...?
The problem is that the judgements are generally made after the event took place. And after history has been re-written.
Let's get the lab straight. I use to work there, but not anymore. They are too understaffed for me, and they have a so called phleb supervisor, who thinks she does not have to work weekends or any holidays. What is up with that? She also takes her pto time off around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. According to HR they are not suppose to do that. What about it Tonya? Any suggestions. Get some help in there and work your weekends. Suggestions are welcome.
To "Somethin2Smile4":
What you have recommeded we do with the "City Policy Changes" is exactly what I did with a posting off of the Paris Site, only substituted "City" for "Company".
(See "I just want it to be better....", Company Policy Changes 10:18)
The other blog I lifted this off of was The Paris Site.
I guess what goes around comes around.
Frank please please stop! First you posted the pic from Young Frankenstein and I went around singing "Puttin' on the Ritz" and now I am singing "Monster Mash"!!!
Stop!!! LOL!
If you ever do "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" I'm outta here!!
6:36
You missed the Lion sleeps tonight in an earlier post. A wing a whop, a wing a whop.
It was in the one with Welcome to the Jungle. Yeah--they are playing in my head too.
Sing em in front of administration and see what kind of response you get. I'm dying to know who's reading.
eyeampissed
When I see comments like that- I try to picture who this person is. I can't for the life of me think of a person who would say such a thing.
So here is my theory on that. I think it is an administrative post- or a post from someone who would have reason to keep people from reading the blog. Who ever wrote that- I feel must be trying to discredit what we are saying--or get people mad so they won't read it anymore.
It makes us look like we are on the virge of Columbine--which in someones case- it might be so.
Those kids were bullied until they went postal------I guess this leads to theory number 2. We may need to consider bullet proof vests and helmets to replace our scrubs.
I think the comment concerning Gene and his son was directed at Gene being two faced/hippocritical. For being such a tyrant, yet "appearing" so "good" come Sunday morning. I've met his son, and he's a precious golden soul, I don't think anyone can really take a potshot at him....unfortunately they can his daddy.
I agree w/ 7:53am I had an uncle w/ downs and have fostered an abandoned child w/ downs. This may sound cliche', but I really think they are angels. I too wonder how they feel when they see inconsistencies w/ us. Maybe the comment wasn't w/ the best taste...
Maybe we are being to critical of coach all together. I mean lets face it he's delt with football players--maybe he's just not so great at dealing with everybody else.
It don't mean he doesn't have a heart. He doesn't know much about healthcare (obviously) but maybe he got on the board for good reasons.
I've taken care of his family before, more than once, and have never had a problem. I mean he's gruff and all, but I just kind of got the idea that he was worried about what was going on with his family.
Lets face it, many of the people who make our decisions, have no clue about how things work and why.
They just know what they want--like a pretty Paris, or first come first serve.
I've had pt's with obviously broken arms, or lacerations, or vomiting, that have to wait for a bed, because someone else is having CP, breathing problems, low bp etc... and everybody in the waiting room was just appalled because someone with something obviously wrong with them, has to wait, while someone with a problem not so obvious that came after they did, was escorted back to ER.
I've had comments like--That person must have money, because they got back there fast.
It hurts me to the bone--but I know my job and what I have to do. Most lay people don't understand. Coach is no different.
It does bother me when people expect me to get them right back because they are board members, or have money etc...
It won't happen with me. They get back according to ABC's.
Gee, haven't heard anything about the Gala, have you?
I haven't heard a word about the gala either.
So is the gay-la a go or not? (intentionally mispelled). How bout the rat affair?
I know I have a weird imagination, but when I picture the "Monster Mash" I see a huge vat (like the ones they used to stomp grapes in vinyards), and barefoot administration--with fangs, claws, and witches hats--stomping employees bloody.
I guess I must need some therapy. Hey---I'll admit it.
